Opa-locka is a city located in northeastern Miami-Dade County, Florida with a population of 15,259. The city, which was developed by Glen Curtiss, is known for its large Arab Revival architecture. Originally the area of Opa-Locka was called “Opa-tisha-worka-locka,” meaning an island covered with trees and swamps.
