Kendall is an unincorporated region within Miami Dade County, Florida. This area is populated by about 75,371 people and includes the communities of The Hammocks, Country Walk, The Crossings, Kendale Lakes, Kendall West, and Three Lakes—all subdivisions of Kendall.
The Kendall community is more than 50% Hispanic, as a large percentage of the residents of the area are Cuban, Venezuelan, Nicaraguan, and Colombian, making up for one of the top 25 highest percentages of their respective populations within the US. Therefore, much of the language spoken in Kendall is Spanish and English—a larger portion of the Kendall population speaks Spanish as a first language rather than English. Spencer Aronfeld and Miami personal injury lawyers speak fluent Spanish. Aronfeld also appears frequently on Spanish media.
Kendall is positioned at the edge of the Florida Everglades. It is home to the Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport, one of the busiest general aviation airports in Florida, serving corporate, recreational, flight training, and governmental agency activities. Attractions include Zoo Miami (formerly called Miami MetroZoo) with over 300 acres of jungle and Dadeland Mall, which anchors more than 185 specialty stores making it one of Miami’s premiere indoor shopping malls.
Kendall is served by two Miami Metrorail stations and by the Metrobus. Along with Pollo Tropical Headquarters in Dadeland, Kendall is the location of numerous public and private schools and Miami Dade College. The Miami-Dade Police Department operates in the Kendall district monitoring crime and violence, and The Kendall Gazette, Kendall’s own newspaper is part of Miami’s Community Newspapers. Situated within Miami-Dade County, many residents root for major league teams such as the Miami Heat, Miami Dolphins, Miami Marlins, and Florida Panthers.
Most importantly, Kendall is home to several hospital systems and many urgent clinics and nursing homes. Baptist Hospital, newly established West Kendall Baptist Hospital, Kendall Regional Medical Center, Miami Children’s Hospital Outpatient Centers, and Leon Medical Centers are some of the major medical centers found in Kendall, Florida.
