Royal Caribbean’s Newest Cruise Ship is the World’s Largest

Royal Caribbean’s Hero of the Seas Launches from Miami in August 2027

A new Royal Caribbean cruise ship is set to launch next summer. The Hero of the Seas will include a record-breaking water park, 28 unique dining options, a multi-level family treehouse, and the greatest number of pools at sea.

Royal Caribbean calls the ship “the most unstoppable, incredible, revolutionary family vacation ever.” Bookings on the ship open Thursday, April 2. The Hero of the Seas belongs to Royal Caribbean’s Icon class, the cruise line’s newest generation of ships, which also includes Icon, Legend, and Star of the Seas.

Hero of the Seas has nine distinct pools, including family-friendly spaces, adult-only options, and the world’s largest onboard swim-up bar. The ship also houses the largest waterpark at sea and includes a surf simulator and the Crown’s Edge, described as “a fear-inducing challenge that’s part skywalk, part ropes course, part thrill ride and an all-out test of your courage” that ends with “a plunge that leaves you dangling 154 feet above the ocean.”

The ship also has the Adrenaline Peak rock-climbing wall, Lost Dunes mini-golf course, and sports courts for pickleball, basketball, soccer, and more.

For a family vacation that’s reimagined, passengers can book “The Ultimate Family Treehouse,” which sleeps twelve, spans three decks, and includes a rooftop terrace with a private whirlpool and ocean views.

The Reality of Larger Cruise Ships:

The greater the capacity of a ship, the more cruise lines can increase profits. This pursuit of increased profit, however, leads to increased negligence and endangerment for the passengers on board their ships. With ships as large as cities, passengers, isolated at sea, are subject to the same dangers that general urban living provides but
on a much more concentrated level. Thousands of passengers every year sustain injuries on cruise ships, regardless of the cruise line or the destination. What happens once you are injured, however, is dependent on which ship you choose to take.
