Aronfeld Trial Lawyers Obtains 2/3 of a Million Dollar Jury Verdict for Injured Passenger Onboard Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Sea

Miami-based Aronfeld Trial Lawyers has won a successful jury verdict in the amount of $667,005.75 for a client who was injured onboard Royal Caribbean’s cruise ship vessel, the Adventure of the Sea. The case (Edgardo Lebron vs. Royal Caribbean Cruises LTD – Case No. 1:16cv24687) involves a cruise ship passenger, who suffered a serious fall in the ship’s designated ice skating rink in 2016. A Miami-Dade County jury returned a verdict against Royal Caribbean Cruises LTD in the amount of $42,005.75 for Mr. Lebron’s medical care and hospital costs, and $625,000.00 in damages for pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life and future losses.

“This was a very hard fought case and we are privileged to represent Edgardo Lebron and his beautiful family. Holding a cruise line accountable in Federal court is a huge challenge,” said the plaintiff’s lead counsel, Spencer Aronfeld. “We are very pleased that our client and his family will receive just compensation for what he went through and will have to endure for the rest of his life.”

Lebron, a resident and citizen of Puerto Rico, fell onboard Royal Caribbean’s, Adventure of the Sea while participating in a skating activity onboard the ship. The ice skating rink lacked adequate safety features to prevent the fall, causing him serious bodily injury, resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, hospital expenses, medical and nursing home care and treatment. The losses for this client are permanent and continuing.

The incident was a direct result of the faulty skating equipment and the deterioration and poor conditions of the ice skating rink. The defendant (Royal Caribbean Cruises LTD) failed to warn our client and others of the dangerous conditions present in the ice skating rink and take the proper precautions for the safety of its passengers. Additional plaintiff’s counsel on the case include: Raul Delgado II, Matthias Hayashi and Javier Jerez of Aronfeld Trial Lawyers.
