Carnival’s New Ship “Vista” Features The World’s First Beer Brewery at Sea

With Royal Caribbean leading the cruise ship industry after it’s recent launch of the Harmony of the Seas, the largest cruise ship in the world right now, Carnival has decided it won’t be out shined any longer. The cruise line led by new CEO Arnold Donald is hoping to recapture the market’s interest with it’s largest ship, the Carnival Vista.

Carnival’s new ship, the Vista has a passenger capacity of 4,980, weighing in at 133,500 tons and will feature what we believe to be the very first craft beer brewery at sea. The Red Frog Pub & Brewery located on the promenade deck will brew three special flavors derived from Concrete Beach Brewery-a brand of Alchemy and Science, a subsidiary brand of The Boston Beer Company. The Miami based brewery has the capacity to brew around 18 barrels per week and is welcomes guest to tour its grounds for a fee of $12.95 a person which includes a tasting.

As if introducing the world’s first brewery at sea was not enough, the Vista will also feature the very first IMAX theater on a cruise ship. If that doesn’t do it for you, the ship will also include a 455-foot-long water tube slide—the largest in Carnival history.

The release of the Vista is the first new Carnival ship in four years and is currently sailing in the Mediterranean. The ship will make its way to Carnival’s home port—the port of Miami this fall and will offer six-night Caribbean voyages to Cayman Islands, Jamaica, and Mexico; in addition to eight-night voyages making stops in Aruba, Grand Turk, St. Maarten, St. Kitts, Bonaire, and Curacao.

Congratulations to Carnival on this very exciting addition to their cruise line fleet. We wish everyone traveling aboard the Vista a safe and exciting cruise, and remind all passengers to drink responsibly. As a cruise ship injury lawyer, I have continually cautioned passengers of the dangers of mixing heavy alcohol consumption and cruising. We caution you that if you must try the beer, that you please keep your wits about you and navigate about the ship with great care.

It is extremely easy for passengers to forget to pace themselves when drinking aboard a cruise ship—on vacation, with no need to drive anywhere—that cruise ships have unique architectural features such as raised thresholds, wet and slipper decks, and marble staircases, all while rocking and rolling with the waves and wind of the open sea.

If you are injured aboard a cruise ship, such as the Carnival Vista, you should seek medical care immediately and carefully document how, when, and where your accident occurred.  Keep in mind that your statements to the ship’s medical team, security officers, and other crew members will often be used against you if later you decide to make a claim against Carnival for any reason.  We recommend that you not sign anything until you have spoken with an experienced maritime injury attorney.
