An 80-year-old female passenger was medevacked from a Carnival cruise ship, reportedly after a fall that injured her head. The fall required immediate medical attention.
The passenger was traveling on the Carnival Ecstasy, which was approximately five hours into its five-day Bahama voyage after leaving Charleston, South Carolina. The Coast Guard was notified at 9:15 p.m. ET that a passenger had suffered a head injury after a fall.
Due to the nature of the injuries and age of the passenger, the U.S. Coast Guard immediately dispatched a rescue helicopter from Air Station Savannah. The crew met the ship approximately 55 miles east of Savannah, Georgia. They were able to successfully lift her from the ship to the helicopter where the passenger was taken to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah for treatment.
