Lawsuit Filed After Passenger Seriously Injured Due to Faulty Chair Onboard Ritz-Carlton’s Luxury Super Yacht, Evrima
MIAMI – (February 17, 2025) Aronfeld Trial Lawyers has filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court Southern District of Florida (CASE NO. 1:25-cv-20484), on behalf of a passenger who was seriously injured while onboard the RITZ-CARLTON luxury yacht, Evrima.
Plaintiff, Shaun Wymes, a resident of the State of Texas, was seated by the ship’s staff on one of the chairs located at the sushi bar. Suddenly, the yacht swayed and spun him, and the chair he was sitting on sheared off at the base. As a result, Wymes went flying from the seat, sustaining severe injuries. The incident occurred on about May 7, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m. Photographs of the chair are below.
Photographs of the chair are below.

“The dangerous condition of the chair was known, or should have been known, by the Defendant in this case, in addition to other reasons that will be revealed through discovery,” said Plaintiff’s attorney Spencer Aronfeld. “You would expect a cruise line of this magnitude would have invested in the very best furnishings that are designed to withstand the unique circumstances that passengers will find themselves in at sea. The Ritz Carlton line is supposed to be the best of the best and something like this should have never happened. Our goal is to make sure it does not happen again,” Aronfeld continued.
As a result of the dangerous condition, Wymes sustained severe injuries, including, but not limited to, muscle spasms, pain in his neck and his knees down to the ankle, head injuries, a possible concussion, a possible traumatic brain injury, neurological issues, and other injuries.
We are requesting a judgement in client’s favor against Defendant, CRUISE YACHT OPCO, LTD., DBA THE RITZ-CARLTON YACHT COLLECTION, and demand a trial by jury seeking damages of more than $250,000.00, exclusive of interest, costs, and attorney’s fees.
