The Cleanest Cruise Ships in 2024
This year, 24 cruise ships have earned a perfect score of 100 during surprise health inspections by the CDC’s Vessel Sanitation Program.
What is the Cruise Vessel Sanitation Program (VSP)?
The Cruise Vessel Sanitation Program is a collaborative effort between the CDC and the cruise industry, aimed at reducing the spread of gastrointestinal illnesses, such as norovirus, and other health risks aboard ships. The program sets sanitation standards for cruise ships and conducts unannounced inspections to ensure compliance.
The program covers a wide range of areas on the ship, including food preparation, potable water safety, waste management, ventilation, and medical facilities. Through these inspections, the VSP works to prevent and control the introduction and spread of infectious diseases.
