I spent the day in the office reviewing our first quarter budget versus actual with our CFO Many Diaz. It was sobering.

The end of the first quarter of 2009 gives me and my team an opportunity to reflect on what went right and what went wrong, with enough time hopefully to correct our course.

Manny and Glenn Finch our practice advisor help our team chart the course for the rest of the year.

One case can make our break our quarter, so its important that we focus on getting the best results for our clients along with keeping costs in check.

The first quarter of 2009 was unusual for me as I spent a lot of time out of the office writing my book as well as in cases in Daytona and Palm Beach. It also marks the second quarter of having both Lennon and Bruce on board. For the first time in many years our firm has three trial lawyers working on cases both together and individually.

I am optimistic that our second quarter will be more productive and profitable.
